DISTRACTION-FREE LEARNING CONTINUES IN WORTH COUNTY SCHOOLS
As a continuation of the implementation of the Georgia Distraction-Free Education Act, Worth County Schools will fully implement distraction-free learning expectations for all students in grades K-12 beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
The Georgia General Assembly passed the Distraction-Free Education Act, O.C.G.A. § 20-2-324.8 , to promote positive learning environments free from electronic distractions and to support increased student engagement and achievement.
From the first bell to the last bell, personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, headphones, tablets, smart glasses, gaming devices, and similar technology, will not be used during the school day.
Why are we making this change?
The Georgia Distraction-Free Education Act (O.C.G.A. § 20-2-324.8 ) requires Georgia public schools to implement bell-to-bell restrictions on personal electronic devices for students in grades K-12 to foster:
✔ More focused classrooms
✔ Increased student engagement
✔ Stronger peer relationships
✔ Fewer distractions and interruptions to learning
✔ More meaningful face-to-face interactions

Title I is a federal program designed to provide additional resources to schools with higher numbers of students from low-income families. These funds are used to support programs and services that help ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. As part of our annual planning process, we are asking all parents/guardians and community members to complete the Title I Needs Assessment Survey. Your feedback is critical in helping us identify the academic and support needs of our students and to guide how we use Title I funds across the district.
